Ministry of Tourism – announcement of public calls for grants

Ministry of Tourism intends to support a variety of programs in order to improve the competitiveness of the tourism offer with a total allocation of 74.1 million kunas.

The largest amount of 40 million kunas is related to the assets of the Fund for the Development of Tourism that will be allocated for the first time this year for the project that support the development of tourism infrastructure and preservation of tourist resources. The news is also, that compared to previous years, all public calls should be released by the end of January to make money available on the accounts of future beneficiaries already by the end of February or March.

Such terms, in the opinion of the Minister of Tourism, Darko Lorencin, further strengthen the tourism products for the season as money from grants gets better and earlier involved in preparations for the season.

From the budget fund for tourism development grants are intended for the project proposed by public sector and the cities / municipalities, counties and their and as swell state-owned companies, tourist boards, public institutions, national and nature parks.

According to the announcement of the Minister Lorencin, the Ministry will encourage preparation of projects for structural funds of the EU, for which the Ministry has allocated an additional 3.5 million of the total 74.1 million kunas.

In addition, the relatively high amount of 22.6 million kunas is foreseen for projects that contribute to the competitiveness of the tourism economy including projects such as “1000 pools”, improvement and construction of additional facilities and green entrepreneurship in tourism.

The remaining 8 million kunas of the grant will be provided to the projects that strengthen the tourism market and human resources in tourism, which is, by Lorencin, marked as very important “work” for which realization is very important the collaboration with professional associations.

Part of this money will be directed to programs that encourage the work of professional associations, as well as for scholarships and promotion of the education for jobs in tourism.
